Mena Michael joined MMI Industrial & Steel six months ago as a Semiconductor Project Manager (PM) at our TSMC location in North Phoenix. As a PM, Mena is responsible for identifying the needs and goals of the project. He plans and monitors tasks and ensures work is completed according to contract timelines. Much of his time is spent in the FAB21 Cleanroom where microchips will be made when the lights officially go on at TSMC.
A cleanroom is a highly controlled environment where airborne matter such as dust, microbes and the like are filtered from the air to provide the cleanest work area possible. As you can imagine, managing such a job can be challenging, but that is one of the things Mena enjoys most about his job. He says the challenges have made him more agile as he works through his daily responsibilities. Mena also enjoys the company he keeps during work hours. His peers and management provide him invaluable support, have made him stronger, more diligent and an overall better person. All of this has contributed to Mena’s sense of being HAPPY, one of MMI’s 4H Core Values.
“Happiness is a decision and a state of mind, not just an emotion,” says Mena. He wholeheartedly believes it is a conscious choice we all must make throughout our days. Our overall happiness is reflected “in how we treat those around us, and ultimately, how we handle situations. HAPPY people enjoy what they do because they choose to make the best of any situation. They actively contribute and gain a sense of fulfillment from their efforts,” he continues.
Embracing and choosing to be HAPPY has served Mena well. He’s made it a prerequisite and a cornerstone for his own success, choosing to be HAPPY throughout his career. This has allowed Mena to connect with other genuinely HAPPY individuals and has helped him build lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Being HAPPY has been vital to his success and will contribute to MMI’s success as well, as we continue to pursue work in the semiconductor space.
Mena says of MMI, “I am appreciative that MMI promotes happiness as a core value, and it is directly reflected in the pride we take in our work.” As HAPPY as he is in his job, we are even more so, honored, to have him as part of our team.
