Over the years, and with our growing success in the steel fabrication industry, MMI Industrial and Steel has earned the ability to acquire some of the best equipment available. It is though these acquisitions that we can provide our customers with the absolute best service and prices. One such piece of equipment is the Voortman V310 Plate Processing Machine. Since purchase of the V310 in January of 2019, we have been able to fully automate portions of our business saving customers time and money.
The Voortman V310 uses computer software to create Computer Numerical Control, or CNC, files which guide the machine to create parts not cut by hand. CNC is a method that automates control of machining tools via a computer. A CNC controlled machine can fabricate steel material, up to 6” thickness, to meet customer specifications by following preprogrammed instructions, all through an unmanned process. When a program is selected and operators locate a starting point, the machine will begin to cut parts from the material. It will run autonomously upon operator command. The operator can then focus on other tasks, increasing productivity.
Increased productivity is attained through modernizing our processes and the automation capabilities of the V310. It can perform plasma and oxyfuel cutting, carbide drilling, milling, 3D beveling and more on a single station. This eliminates the need to move parts through various machines. The addition of automation with equipment such as the Voortman V310 has allowed us to produce better quality products at a faster rate with less labor costs and long term overhead. Ultimately, these saving are reflected in our customer’s bottom lines. For MMI, it is an optimal choice because it supports the implementation of projects quickly and sometimes at short notice. The V310’s versatility will ensure it stays relevant long into the future as new technologies are developed.
Innovated machines and processes are key to development and growth and in differentiating MMI from our competitors. The machines of tomorrow will be met with an experienced workforce of operators that are already familiar with automated machine use. It is imperative that we change as our customer’s needs change. By expanding our capabilities with equipment such as the Voortman V310, we can meet current and future needs.
