What the Highwire Gold Safety Award Represents
The Highwire Gold Safety Award is a coveted recognition in the industry, given to companies that demonstrate exceptional safety standards. Highwire, a leading risk assessment platform, is used by general contracting and engineering firms to assess potential risks associated with their projects. By evaluating both lagging and leading indicators, Highwire provides a comprehensive view of a company’s safety performance, enabling project owners and contractors to make informed decisions that ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Each year, Highwire awards companies that achieve a score of 85% or higher in their Safety Assessment Program. This score is calculated based on the safety, financial, and OSHA documents that contractors upload to their Highwire profiles. Highwire then generates a score ranging from 0 to 100, reflecting the company’s overall safety performance.

Reflecting on Our 2023 Achievement
Last year, we celebrated our first Highwire Gold Safety Award for 2023. It was a significant milestone that reflected the hard work and dedication of our entire team. As noted in our previous announcement, this award was a testament to the safety culture we have cultivated at MMI—a culture that prioritizes the well-being of our employees, the success of our projects, and the trust of our clients.

Brian Gafford, MMI’s Safety Consultant, has been instrumental in driving our safety initiatives forward. Reflecting on our recent achievements, Brian stated:
"MMI Industrial & Steel’s Safety Department has achieved several milestones, demonstrating that a safety-minded management team and adequate resources lead to continuous improvement in safety culture. MMI is heavily invested in the safety of its employees and goes the extra mile to deliver outstanding results. MMI has received its second Highwire Gold Safety Award, maintaining ‘A’ status in ISNetworld, and ‘Approved’ status in Avetta for 2024. Additionally, MMI has achieved its best EMR on record at 0.57 and a 3-year TRIR at or less than 1.5. These achievements have allowed MMI to pursue new clients while improving our company, as a whole.”
These accomplishments reflect more than numbers on a report—they represent our unwavering commitment to safety and our dedication to continuously improving our processes. Maintaining an “A” status in ISNetworld and an “Approved” status in Avetta are significant achievements that reflect our compliance with the highest safety standards in the industry. Additionally, our best-ever Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.57 and a 3-year Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 1.5 or less are clear indicators of our success in minimizing workplace hazards and ensuring the safety of our employees.
