With nearly 7 years of being immersed in the MMI culture, Sylvia offers valuable insights into what being hardworking means to her and how it has shaped her personal and professional journey.
For Sylvia, being HARDWORKING extends beyond dedication. It involves consistently putting in diligent effort, demonstrating a strong work ethic, and persistently striving towards personal and professional goals. It encompasses dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to invest the necessary time and energy to achieve those goals. This philosophy, instilled in her from a young age by her HARDWORKING parents, aided in building a foundation for Sylvia’s approach to both life and work.
In a recent interview, Sylvia shared, "As I grew up, I saw my parents work hard every day, and to this day they still do. I am forever grateful to have them in my life and instilling this in me." This gratitude for her upbringing has translated into a profound sense of appreciation for the HARDWORKING individuals she collaborates with daily at MMI. Sylvia expressed her honor in working with a team of men and women who embody the essence of hard work, making MMI a great place to work and fostering a sense of camaraderie among colleagues.
Sylvia finds joy in staying busy and cherishes the relationships she builds with her colleagues. When asked about her favorite aspect of the job, she replied, "The people and having to stay busy." Regarding her career plans and the role the core value of HARDWORKING plays in her endeavors, Sylvia shared, "I would say to stay determined, to continue learning and growing each day." As a Human Relations liaison, Sylvia also sheds light on MMI's recruitment process, ensuring alignment with the 4H Core Values: HAPPY, HUNGRY, HARDWORKING, and HONORABLE. When asked how she prioritizes these values during recruitment, Sylvia explained, "When asking questions to candidates, you get a feel for who they are. I feel you can tell if someone is HAPPY, HUNGRY, HARDWORKING, and HONORABLE in the way they express and present themselves throughout the screening process and interview questions."
Sylvia emphasized the importance of character traits such as valuing spirituality, family, work, hobbies, school, and goals during the screening process. These traits closely align with MMI's core values and contribute to fostering a positive and hardworking culture within the organization.
