Mark Campbell, a three-year veteran with MMI Industrial and Steel, has never really had a clear career path. Yet, that hasn’t stopped him from finding success as a Millwright and now a Millwright Foreman. In his position, Mark is responsible for ensuring the safety of his crews on jobsites, training, coaching, and scheduling. He attributes his professional success to date to being HUNGRY, one of our 4H Core Values.
By his definition, HUNGRY means to have “…a strong desire or craving”. That desire, or drive, has propelled Mark to his current position. He has always been HUNGRY for knowledge and new adventures though the two are often accompanied by challenges. Overcoming any challenge can be difficult, especially when it goes against the grain of who we are. One such challenge for Mark has been communication. He says it is something he has always been horrible at, but through experience, and keeping an open mind, he has overcome this barrier with a great sense of accomplishment. Now, his ability to communicate effectively with his crews allows Mark to continue to grow and enjoy his job.
Mark’s greatest enjoyment at work is being involved in the everchanging projects, working in many different environments, and now establishing a career path through hard work and perseverance. He believes MMI places a lot of value on their employees, especially those that demonstrate they are HUNGRY for improvement and success.
